This joint receives its stability not through the solid, bony skeleton, but through a complex system of muscles, tendons, capsules, and ligaments. This gives the shoulder its fascinating mobility, but it also makes this joint vulnerable. However, successful research in recent years has tremendously improved our understanding of complex shoulder movements and the influence of each anatomic feature. Today, standardized operational shoulder treatment has evolved into a specialized surgical discipline. Modern medicine is now able to address the different age or injury related issues to which this joint is prone in a much more differentiated and effective manner.

                            <img decoding="async" src="https://www.etzelclinic.ch/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Rotatorenmanschettennaht-in-Triple-row-Technik-150x150.webp" class="card-img-top" alt="Rotator cuff suture using the "triple-row technique"">

Rotator cuff suture using the “triple-row technique”

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture is demonstrated within…

Your browser does not support the video tag.

Rotator cuff suture using the “triple-row technique”

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture is demonstrated within 3:36 min. So-called anchors, consisting of titanium and plastic, are used for this. The sutures attached to the anchors are passed through the torn tendon stumps and subsequently the tendon can be reattached to the bone of the upper arm. We call such a reconstruction a 3-row tendon suture, because anchors are placed in different places of the bone and finally 3 rows of anchors are formed. Finally, in this video, a complete closure of the tendon defect results and the tendon pressed to the bone has to grow during the subsequent rehabilitation.

Rotator cuff suture in multi-row technique and patch augmentation – version 1

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture with subsequent reinforcement…

Your browser does not support the video tag.

Rotator cuff suture in multi-row technique and patch augmentation – version 1

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture with subsequent reinforcement by a so-called “patch” is demonstrated within 13:42 min. In this video, in addition to the tendon suture, external shots from the operating room are visible, showing the positioning of the patient and the general conditions.

Rotator cuff suture in multi-row technique and patch augmentation – version 3

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture with subsequent reinforcement…

Your browser does not support the video tag.

Rotator cuff suture in multi-row technique and patch augmentation – version 3

In this video, an arthroscopic tendon suture with subsequent reinforcement by a so-called “patch” is demonstrated within 12:25 min. Sutures attached to the anchors are then passed through the anterior joint capsule, allowing the capsule to be tightened and stabilized. In the second part of the video, a so-called “remplissage” is performed. In this technique, a bony defect on the back of the humeral head is covered by fixing a tendon again into the defect via so-called “anchors”. This technique is also used to stabilize the shoulder joint in case of instability.

Arthroscopic shoulder stabilization according to Latarjet-Lafosse

In this video, an arthroscopic anterior shoulder stabilization by relocating…

Your browser does not support the video tag.

Arthroscopic shoulder stabilization according to Latarjet-Lafosse

In this video, an arthroscopic anterior shoulder stabilization by relocating a bone block is demonstrated within 12:56 min.
